You really can't go wrong with most of his stuff. I'd say it's more important to hear some Spacemen 3 first to get perspective, but I think my second favorite J Spaceman related album after Ladies And Gentlemen is Let It Come Down, so take that how you will.

Anyways, this album is amazing and among J Spaceman's best. Spiritualized at their most dreamy and psychedelic is a great thing.

Such an amazing LP - but then I would say that, wouldn't I?

I was lucky enough to see the Albert Hall gig in '97 which later ended up as a Live LP. Until I'd seen Joanna Newsom (ironically at the same venue), and then Panda Bear play the Electric Ballroom in Camden it had been my all-time favourite live experience. But oddly enough LGM lends itself to headphone listening much more so than any other Spiritualized release - it's deep, ethereal and droney, especially the second half which is like a lucid dream set to music.

Spacemen 3 are definitely worth a listen (Playing With Fire is a superb record), but LGM provides a perfect bridge between them and Ladies And Gentlemen..., Let It Come Down et al.

Lock yourself away for an hour with a decent pair of cans and see what I mean...
