|
Hi everyone! This is just a quick post to say "hi" and whatnot to the fellow music lovers on this forum!
Briefly, I'm mostly into electronic music (deep house, synthpop, dubstep, synthrock, dancepunk, ambient/minimal techno, plunderphonics, experimental) and disco (especially nu-disco and the 70s kinds). A selection of artists that I like in these genres include Daft Punk, Chic, John Talabot, Rustie, Classixx, M83, Lindstrøm, Todd Terje, Gold Panda, Actress, GAS, CHVRCHES, SBTRKT, Katy B, Sky Ferreira, The Range, Oneohtrix Point Never, Luomo and Cut Copy.
I also enjoy some R&B (think Janelle Monáe, Rhye, Miguel, Kelela, Jessie Ware), some Kanye and some rock (St. Vincent, HAIM, Youth Lagoon). If I had to pick a favourite genre, it would be the aforementioned nu-disco.
I have an amusing obsession with electronic music that was released during the 2000-2002 period. I find it really resonates with me for some reason.
Albums I'm quite into as of late include:
The Electric Lady - Janelle Monáe
fIN - John Talabot
Zonoscope - Cut Copy
Where You Go I Go Too - Lindstrøm
My favourite source for new and old music is Pitchfork, which I strongly and unashamedly like (their Best New Music designation rarely lets me down) and I also use AllMusic, XLR8R, The Guardian, PopMatters, Resident Advisor, The Needle Drop and Digital Spy.
That's me and my music interests summed up nicely. I hope I get to discover, review and discuss lots of great albums through this forum.

I was pondering whether to listen to Half of Where You Live earlier today and I'm taking your reply as a sign to do just that

The consensus around HOWYL is that it wasn't as good as Lucky Shiner but I dunno, I think I prefer it.
It's punchier and less fuzzy.

As in make my own chart? (Forgive my noobiness, I literally found this site about an hour ago )
I'll pop up a rough chart soon, but I'll have to come back to it and do some serious pondering to get it just right.
