  • Post subject: BEAM #2: Collaboration Track
  • Quote
Creating a thread to organize/explain stuff. For one of the tracks on the BEAM, we're going to do an actual collaboration between as many people as we can get and see what happens. It's bound to be really chaotic, so we're going with Untitled, which is a track I think could really benefit from this.

The basic idea is we each get an instrument, and we divide the song into parts, in such a way that everyone gets a lead moment and the rest of the time plays an accompaniment. So the actual bagpipes would in reality be played by many instruments taking turns. We'll use the same chord progression than the original song and a similar structure, but you guys are free to improvise on anything else. Also the song will probably have to be longer to acommodate everyone.

If everyone who wants to participate could leave a comment saying what instruments they'd be comfortable playing that'd be cool to start structuring the whole thing. Also any questions or opinions are more than welcome.

Jhereko: Drums, Mandolin, Synths, Guitar, Bass
SilverWalrus: Guitar
BenPaco: ukulele, acoustic bass, tenor sax

I'd be happy to play synth or mandolin (or even if necessary bass or guitar)

EDIT: or if you prefer I could attempt the drum track on drum machine

I can do whatever you need out of ukulele, acoustic bass, tenor sax, and if we REALLY need it I can sorta guitar or harmonica. That said, my real instruments are just the first three.

I could probably do some drumming, if required; I'm not sure a drum machine would have the right feel, to be honest.

Can I contribute a meow? It'd be a pretty spectacular meow.

I'll add a couple of "eurgh" ad-libs (see 2:28 onwards).
