Hey all. My name is Russ. You can call me Rusty, too, I care not.

I don't think I could live without music. I'm guessing that's what brings most people here. I want to expand my knowledge and appreciation of music, and I'm guessing that's the other big reason people come here. I'm hoping I'll feel right at home.

I was looking through my library the other day, and came to a realization that kind of horrified me. Most of my collection could be classified as "music by white dudes with guitars". That's not to say I don't like hip-hop, r&b, girl rockers, etc., but my knowledge in those areas is far from comprehensive, so recs are welcome!

My Greatest Albums chart is very much a work in progress. It's a bit of a colossal project to distill my favorite albums into such a list, but it's been fun to think about so far. My top 25 is almost completely interchangeable. The bottom 25 are not in any kind of order yet. Feedback is more than welcome, though!

I look forward to growing as I interact with you folks more.

Thanks! John Prine is an important part of my "Singer/Songwriter Mount Rushmore," along with Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and Elliott Smith. One of those songwriters with songs that really resonate deeply on a personal, philosophical, emotional, and intellectual level. I could talk about him for days and still find something new to say about his writing.
