Uh, I really like this. The opener is my favorite, but I remember liking pretty much everything on here, even though I've not given it a spin in a long time. The Decemberists really are a band I like a lot, not sure why I've kinda forgotten about them lately. They're slightly over the top, but it's not something that bothers me much usually, and this record is no exception.

"And the anchorperson on TV goes...
La de da de da de-dadedade-daa
La de da de da de-dadedade-daaa"

picaresque, whoa the decemberists, got through it when I was watching TV and Sixteen Military Wives poped up in the music channel, and drew my attention, I was caught by the progression and the direction that the sound took, while the trumpets gave the song a beautiful charm. About the album, if you're a fan of Indie rock of the 2000s you will like it a lot, the decemberists could create in this album a texture of sound that are present in all the songs, maybe because they are using the acoustic guitar, which take off that "all the time guitar" boring album. Sometimes I think it's a kind of overshadowed by "hazards of love" or "the crane wife" that are also great but I feel like indifferent in these, I think this a little more exaggeration in picaresque which in the moderated level is all fine. also the instrumentation here is well crafted, and surprising at times, the use of the accordion in "The Mariner's Revenge Song" is amazing, I can't say too much for this album, because I like it, I don't see nothing spectacular in it, something peculiar there but not oooohhhh what a different thing 2deep4me. The high lights are awesome believe on me, it feels a little bit inconsistent at times for it lenght but the last songs sometimes make me forget all that I heard on it,

"La de da de da de-dadedade-daaaaaaaaa"

Early Decemberists is a blast, despite their tendency to venture into the sickly sweet. This may actually be my least favorite from them, though.

This is my favorite from The Decemberists, by a mile. That being said, everything they've done is quite good. Something about this one feels pretty perfect.

Track picks
1. The Infanta
4. The Sporting Life
8. The Engine Driver
9. On The Bus Mall
11. Of Angels And Angles

This album is a lot of fun, not as good as Crane Wife, but on-par with Hazards of Love.

16 Military Wives is a favourite of mine.
