Well I guess on the recent round of questions in the ask users thread I had a selfish motive in that I wanted to gauge people's favorite cities/experiences/neighborhoods in europe as Im planning a big long trip there next march/april-ish, and I guess it would be a good idea to actually have a thread where people can talk about everything travel-related, for discussing places u r going soon, places uv already been and just ask other users about any general travel-related concern. Or something like that I donno
So yeah I guess for european users or those who've done extensive travel in europe, what are some of the best overlooked cities/villages/general sights of interest either in your native country or throughout the continent?

If you're into nature/scenery, the Lake District is pretty spectacular. It's a bit out of the way though, so if you're only in the UK for a bit I wouldn't bother.
BTW we simply MUST meet next year. _________________

not european, but my family has been to europe several times (and my parents even more times), and I hear them talk about the lake district more fondly than most other places in europe. so i guess i'm seconding this haha _________________ My top songs of the 2010s

Shit that means they've seen it more often than I have, that's pretty embarrassing on my part _________________

Thirded, it's lovely. Also if you're in Italy, I'd recommend going to Cetona in the Siena region. Really isolated but breathtaking.

I've only been to two European countries: England and Italy.
Italy was a hell of a trip. Went to Rome, Florence, and Lake Garda. So yeah, it was definitely the more touristy destinations, but I didn't mind because I was with some good people and had an incredible experience. It was actually on this trip when Radiohead's Kid A, Marvin Gaye's What's Going On, and Kendrick Lamar's good kid, mAAd city clicked for me.
England was also a great trip. The people I went with weren't as kind, though. We basically hit the major destinations in London and Windsor.
I'm heading back to Italy in 2016, so I'm excited for that. I plan on visiting Norway sometime in my life!
In America, I make annual trips to Arizona, so I'm becoming quite familiar with the land out there (I'm also a low-key ASU fan!). Been making trips to California too. Gotta love the West Coast vibe. _________________ ...and for dessert!

The west coast of Ireland is pretty spectacular, if you happen to be around here, we are a bit out of the way of mainland Europe admittedly, but I've never encountered anything like rural Ireland and Scotland, it's like a whole other world, the cities aren't too shabby in Ireland either (Cork, Dublin, Belfast, Galway being the main ones), I guess I'm just sick of the sight of them at this stage though. The whole area around the Alps is pretty spectacular too though, western France, Switzerland, southern Germany, northern Italy, Austria and Slovenia and beyond is a pretty good direction to go, definitely recommend taking a route through there and into places further south like Croatia. _________________
