Just to let everyone know that an algorithm change is going live today that will mainly have an impact on the current year chart. The prime motive is to improve the quality of the current year chart which at the moment is too susceptible to gaming.
The details are discussed in this forum post, but the main reason for the change is to provide a fairer representation of which albums from the current year are appearing in people's charts and to reduce the impact of albums from the current year appearing in overall charts where the higher points can distort the true picture.
