Love this album, it's #39 on my best albums list.
Best tracks imo are:
3rd Planet, Gravity Rides Everything, Tiny Cities Made Of Ashes, Dark Center Of The Universe, Paper Thin Walls

the cover art is really ugly though

This album changed the way I thought about music three or four years ago. I had Third Planet stuck in my head for a couple months and I still get chills every time I hear it. Isaac Brock has such a great knack for writing songs that sound insane at first but that you start to relate to after a while. I'd list the highlights but every song is a highlight - this is my favorite albums from the 2000s and probably the best indie rock album of all time not titled The Lonesome Crowded West.

Really overrated. Apart from the first two tracks, I don't really see this album's appeal.

It's an absolutely fantastic album. A masterpiece. The lyrics and the music effortlessy fuse into poetic, thought-provoking surreal philosophy. It's safe to say that it influenced several new modern indie sub-genres (some of which we aren't too thankful for.) Modest Mouse, however, kept indie alive during the early 21st century, and breathed new life into it. (Absolutely nothing beats 90's indie IMO)

Moon & Antarctica is right next to LCW, standing forever proudly

The Lonesome Crowded West just did not appeal to me as much as The Moon and Antarctica. It's a dazzling record. Those first three tracks are stellar on their own.
