One of the first albums I ever really loved and the beginning of my love affair with Mike Patton's many projects. Was pretty revolutionary for the time but pales in comparison to Angel Dust.

The leap from The Real Thing to Angel Dust is probably one of the greatest album to album leaps I've ever seen a band take. I'm not sure if it's simply the addition of Patton that led to that progression but considering how little input he had with The Real Thing (since he was a hired hand to replace Chuck Mosely), it would appear Patton was the catalyst.

I loved this when it first came out, and it has actually gotten even better with time.

Angel Dust is very clearly a step up from this. This is good but there are some lackluster and boring tracks, an issue which does not repeat on AD and KFAD to a lesser extent.

Just remember one thing folks: Faith No More is responsible for inspiring KoRn.

Mike Patton has to live with that every day of his life.

Sad

I actually have a bit of nostalgia for their first three records, despite them being not the best things out of the whole alternative metal scene that was growing at the time. But I do agree out of those three that their eponymous debut was the best out of them. Has some neat Faith No More/Mr. Bungle/Alice in Chains influenced ideas going on, too.
