Keren even becomes very close with a lovely boy with a delicate face, whom all the patients called "Click"-- Keren was told that her new friend was given this name because he was a wizard with the television remote control, and he fucking hated that Adam Sandler movie that ripped off his favorite "Goosebumps" story. The nickname was part praise and part friendly teasing on part of the other patients.
After the doctors saw that Keren was well-adjusted, they decided that it was time to begin the deprogramming process. The sounds of Pet Sounds and Homogenic were so deeply buried in her psyche, in a hole that was 18 years deep. The doctors knew that, for this to work, Keren would have to dig as deep as humanly possible, bringing all of the music of her childhood to the surface and out of her thin but heroic frame.
The doctors thought that the best way for Keren to rid Pet Sounds and Homogenic from her system, was to put her into a recording booth where she would attempt to combine those albums into one and offer her own interpretation of those painful sounds-- the ultimate act of reappropriation!
