Alright so I just pitched the idea in the last topic, and it seems people really liked the idea, so I'm going to go through with it. Yes, this is happening. Consider this the first stages of development.

First things first, I'm recruiting people to be on the development team. I can't offer you money, but if you like what you do this project will be fun to work on, and I can promise your name in the credits at the end of the game. If you want to be a part of this let me know what you can do, and give me examples of your work. Even if you don't have any skills to contribute, please by all means post your ideas and thoughts on the matter.

What we know so far: This will be a short (30-45 minutes) RPG/Adventure that is a tribute to the website and it's community, with actual members of the community possibly being the main or side characters. Most of the references in the game will be ones to music.

Gameplay

Typical RPG style, leveling up etc.

Plot

It's a regular Wednesday morning for King Crimson, until he realises one thing. The queen is dead, and the best ever album has vanished. All signs lead to Ziggy Stardust, an infamous outlaw, but he's escaped to the dark side of the moon.

You're a bounty hunter, and you're good at what you do. Take the deathly Highway 61, make your way to the dark side of the moon, track down Ziggy Stardust, avenge the Queen, and take back the best ever album.

Oh, btw, I can vouch for Shoop's skills, he makes some awesome stuff and really does awesome on the details, if we can pull together and throw a plot his way, I'm sure he'll make something awesome.

I'm using RPGMaker VX Ace. I know its a pretty crappy engine, but it's convenient and way better than building a game from scratch. If I were to build a full commercial project it would be different.

maybe the story is like, the queen is dead, and in his grief the crimson king (who's face always looks like this because of his grief) hacked into the ok computer and got ziggy stardust imprisoned in a prism on the dark side of the moon and so you have to gather the forces of good and use a jefferson starship to ride the lightning, always making sure you remain in light while also maintaining a good air supply, journey deep into the court of the crimson king and give him a good tubthumping. and then you go to the moon to save ziggy stardust but then plot twist, you also have to go to antarctica. and in between you can do a bunch of stuff like maybe there's this guy who you get on highway 61 (you'll know you're getting close when you see blood on the tracks), but you don't get him the first time, only after the area is revisited. i dunno just spitballin here.
