It's been a while since I last heard it, but from what I remember it was one of Dylan's weakest. I should give it another chance. Mr. Tambourine Man is an absolute blast, though.

I love it, it's got some classic Dylan tunes. "Maggie's Farm", "Subterranean Homesick Blues", "Mr. Tambourine Man", "It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" and "It's All Over Now Baby Blue" all belong on any Dylan greatest hits compilation. Right in the middle of Dylan's ridiculous 60s streak.

Ha, listened to this earlier today. Great album, probably my second favourite of Dylan's- behind Blonde on Blonde.

I'm assuming you mean weakest of his most artistically fertile period in the sixties? I disagree strongly, as I think it's his best album overall, but I would be shocked if anyone found any piece of music worse than Dylan's '80s output. Razz

I'm with you. This could very well be Dylan's finest batch of songs. Certainly on par with Highway 61 and Blonde on Blonde.

That second half feels like one giant burst of creativity...and completely genius. The first half is radically defiant, yet filled with life. When I think of "Bob Dylan" I think of this album first. Stuff after it feels more "roots rock" to me, this is definitively "60s counterculture"

My favourite Dylan with Highway 61, not a single weak song, and the strongest are among his best. Probably the Dylan album in which I feel his pleasure in making music the most, probably the most fun of his. Strong favourite here.

I have always looked at this as a comedy album....and a great one at that. Perhaps not musically as good as Highway 61 or Blonde on Blonde, but lyrically speaking...pure genius.
