Albums:

1958 was good times, it's true, but we should ask ourselves: what did it really do that 1968 didn't do better? After all, 1968 featured an upgraded Miles Davis:

Nefertiti by Miles Davis

A much upgraded Johnny Cash:

At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash

Better crooners:

Scott 2 by Scott Walker

Even the bluesmen were fab:

Devil Got My Woman by Skip James

What's more, 1968 saw the mainstream reveal of one of the biggest revolutions in 20th century classical music. Though In C was composed in 1964, the first release to the general public in 1968 allowed people around the world to hear what is considered by some to be the first ever minimalist composition. Don't just listen to this for the history, however, listen to it because it's breathtaking:

In C by Terry Riley

Singles:

1968 was no slouch with singles either...

Everybody's Talkin - Harry Nilsson

Hickory Wind - The Byrds

Baby - Gal Costa

This Is My Country - The Impressions

I Thank You - Sam & Dave

I'm personally voting for kiki since he evidently put more effort in the music selection as opposed to sp4cetiger who is all about fancy images and comments nobody asked for.

Quite like some of those albums on 1958, but "Witch Doctor" has been the bane of my existence ever since my wife first played it for my son.

Interesting album choices Sp4ce. Not enough people know that Skip James record. I got it on vinyl years ago. To be honest. His earlier recordings are a bit more incredible. But this is great. And Scott Walker 2 has long been my favorite Walker record.

Yet I'm having a hard time voting against Nina, Buddy, Little Richard, Ricky Nelson and Bo Diddly.

Leaning 68 but gotta give this some thought.

Was first released in 68, withdrawn, then rereleased in 69 after the movie. I think you could make an argument for either year.

Nerfertiti is probably the biggest Miles Davis album that I've never given a listen to... I guess I better do that before I vote.

Swinging towards '68 at this point anyway.

1968 is much more to my liking, but using 'This is My Country' the single over This is My Country the album is near unforgivable. One of Curtis' very best. Will still likely vote '68 regardless.
