But yes, this is weird. With Kiki involved, that was inevitable. |
amen. It's likely this will all be moot when 1998 wins anyway. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

Well... I'm lost on what's happening behind the scenes, but I prefer the '58 team, so I'm voting that. |
Me too. Awesome team.

I let it go the first time because I thought you were just using it as an example but seeing as you tacked it on the end of that paragraph in spite of it not having any relevance or comparability to the other situation, you're clearly upset or trying to use this as some kind of smear tactic. Either way usage of the word 'stockpile' implies intention on my part which isn't very polite of you, I must say. Now I have to defend myself 😮 . Few things; Sp4ce who I was versing for that match acknowledged that he knew I was planning my team for that. I also think that more grace needs to be given to people submitting teams. The matches for this week were posted much later than usual, had I had even a few hours more that first time I would have had a submitted team. When I ran this tournament the first time I wouldn't have run a match if I didn't have someone's team - though that ran into its own troubles (way extended matchdates), so I understand why go this way.
It seems pretty underhanded to continually complain about this in another thread while that matchup is going on so I am more than happy to forfeit any of the top 20 albums of 2008 that I haven't used yet in my next match if that seems like a satisfactory penalty. That's way more than the 5 that first match would have been but if it makes peace, I'm happy.

also I'm voting for 1958 too at this point (though I think sp4ce made the right call given the circumstances). Though I'm yet to listen to Somethin Else, At Newport and Moment Of Truth.

Nah. I honestly don't care as much as it must seem. I just thought it was weird that 1958 doesn't count here simply because Kiki's earlier rounds were weak and because Alel dominated earlier with a different year.
I'm totally fine with your round vs me counting. I benefitted from your absent round (even if only indirectly), so it's fair. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

I think the main reason the deadlines have been strict is because of Defago's limited time. He usually only has a narrow window within his Sunday during which he has time to post the teams and if everyone hasn't submitted their teams by then, it means the whole thing has to be delayed by at least a day. I still haven't heard from Defago about the reason for his absence this week, but I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt. Running these tournaments can be very demanding.
Believe me, I understand the frustration on both sides. Putting together the teams can also be time-consuming, especially considering that you have to be so careful about checking the release year, and real life needs to take priority. However, the deadline is technically Saturday night, so there actually is some grace already allowed.
I don't want to make too much light of the concerns here -- competitions aren't fun unless you take them at least a little seriously -- but at the same time it's not worth getting too piqued about. The people who lose here are only inferior insomuch as they have bad taste. And while that certainly makes them bad people as well, I'm sure they still have a few things here and there they can hang their hats on.

Fair enough, like I said the first time you mentioned it I thought it was nothing but the second mention you seemed genuinely miffed by what was happening so I thought it warranted an explanation on my part. I guess I read too much into it.

Yeah I totally get the amount of work it is to run a tournament and that wasn't meant as a slight at how this one is being run at all (pretty certain I'm the last person who can complain about something in the games forum running late ) or the people running them and like I said there are probably more benefits to the way its being run anyway.
