Has anybody else tried out this new streaming service from Apple?
I downloaded it and started my free trial today, it's really impressing me so far. I'm a person who has up until now never used any streaming services to any great extent (barring a brief flirtation with rdio) so it's all very new to me.
Offline streaming is amazing. It's mind-boggling to me that you can download an unlimited amount of albums to listen, as you can on other streaming services too.
I enjoy how Apple music has a great variety of artists available for streaming (though Bjork and Aphex Twin are two notable absentees I've noticed so far) and how it integrates your own library with the app so it's all there in one place.
So far so great for me.
So yeah, I'm interested to see the opinions, tips and tricks on this new service. _________________ Top 100 Greatest Music Albums

Two big factors for me are the size of the catalog and the availability on home audio (as opposed to just mobile/laptop streaming). I had hoped that the former might improve with Apple music (vs. Spotify), but it sounds like a lot of the artists in their catalog aren't part of the service (Aphex Twin and Bjork are both on Spotify, Vulnicura excluded). The home audio bit is coming apparently, but not for a while.
Sticking with Spotify for now.

I guess I'm lucky hat I have all the Bjork and APhex releases that I'd want (for now) but they are two big misses for Apple from the perspective of an electronic music lover. But I suppose that's the nature of the game, as with Taylor Swift's exclusive deal with Apple.
Vulnicura is soooo good too 😐 _________________ Top 100 Greatest Music Albums

Yeah, Taylor Swift and Thom Torke seem to be two of the exclusives Apple music is boasting, but that's not nearly enough to get me to switch.

I'll most likely check it out, just downloading that new iTunes update now which I think it's included in...? I use Spotify occasionally but most of the time I just seem to use what I already have on my iPod, let's see if Apple can change how I listen to music... _________________

You guys should try the free trial if only to stream Joshua Abrams - Magnetoception (my current fav of the year). I think this is the only spot you can hear it without spending a ridiculous amount of money.

I've not looked at this yet, but I'm fairly sure that there will be never be a music streaming service that meets my requirements in my whole entire lifetime. The requirements are -
1. It has to like, play music without crashing
2. I need to have the metadata on tracks be how I want it. I don't want the track to be called Song 1 -- Feat. "Artist 1" (1998 remaster)* by Band; Artist 1; Band & Artist 1. I just want it to be called Song 1 by Band. And there need to be no issues with album art. Not just streaming services, I have never used a piece of software ever which can handle album art properly, whatever you use there's always some issue with it one way or another.
Google Play fails at 1, Spotify fails at 2. Google Play was obviously created in about two days. I know when I last used it, I couldn't have my playlists in any order other than alphabetical, it wouldn't let me change the width of the song title field, so most of the time I couldn't see what the song titles were. This was made worse by the fact it was putting the word 'explicit' in every title in red, overwriting the actual title, and to remove this you had to remove it from each...track...individually. Like I could only see around the first 8 or 9 letters of each song title. No care or attention went into that product, they just knocked it together and hoped to ride on the back of the fact it had the word 'Google' on it. I doubt that Apple Music will be any different, but I might give it a try some time.
---
Incidentally if anybody knows of any word processing software where I can -
1. Paste without formatting without having to click more than once
2. Leave comments, footnotes, links, whatever, but make all of those things completely invisible without having to click more than once.
lemme know
---
Edit: Also, didn't this website display post counts before? How am I meant to work out which opinions are valid and which ones aren't without this?
