I limit my listens to once a year... at this rate I'll be comfortable with it in 2-3 years

There was a time when I preferred "Closer" to "Unknown Pleasures". Not anymore, but it's still the more haunting album between the two in my opinion and still damned good.

it's not the polyvocal, schizophrenic masterpiece that is Drake's Take Care, that's for sure

That's like comparing Twin Peaks to Degrassi. The cult of Jimmy Brooks is bigger than Scientology

no reason to be so mean to Degrassi as to compare it to Drake's musical output. i'm thinking more the Lifetime remake of Full House. or even just Full House would do.

not to derail this thread completely, though, I've recently rediscovered Closer, and though I've always enjoyed it and occasionally thought it incredible, it's pretty firmly entrenched itself as a masterpiece at this point. the keyboard explosion at the beginning of "Isolation" would be enough to cement the reputation of any band, but literally every track oozes the grimdark atmospheres of Unknown Pleasures but with a little bit more of a punk rock kick to them. it's a much more unique and well-aging style and works like some sort of cosmic egg of the material New Order would later play around with to occasionally matching extents. unfortunately, they would never match the track-for-track full-length excellence of this release.
