This is the track listing/times for the vinyl reissue from 2010, not from any of the original releases. Unfortunately, the site doesn't differentiate between such things, but I'm pretty sure it's the original listings that we all know and love (or hate). I think you'd have to be daft to prefer the reissued material

I used to defend my frustration with this album with some stupid "it condones rape" message (based on, you know, the "kiss me, for these are the last days" thing), but nowadays I just find GY!BE to be boring*. This is one of their better releases, but I still prefer peak Explosions in the Sky. To borrow the genius of Lester Bangs, Godspeed's music is sentimentality disguised as profundity, but Explosions is openly sentimental, which makes them the truly profound ones.

*Save for All Lights Fucked on the Hairy Amps Drooling, which I've heard and loved to death. If anyone wants a link, hit me up.

The car is on fire, and there's no driver at the wheel
And the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides
And a dark wind blows
The government is corrupt
And we're on so many drugs
With the radio on and the curtains drawn
We're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine
And the machine is bleeding to death
The sun has fallen down
And the billboards are all leering
And the flags are all dead at the top of their poles
It went like this:
The buildings tumbled in on themselves
Mothers clutching babies
Picked through the rubble
And pulled out their hair
The skyline was beautiful on fire
All twisted metal stretching upwards
Everything washed in a thin orange haze
I said, "Kiss me, you're beautiful -
These are truly the last days"
You grabbed my hand
And we fell into it
Like a daydream
Or a fever

truly one of the most chilling albums of all time. and yeah the hour long CD version is so much better

This. This album is a post-rock staple, obviously. Although I do prefer Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada a bit more, I still love this.

Whichever version it is that ends the second track with a whole bunch of horrible squealing I don't like that version. Aside from that this is amazing.
