What are your favorite albums in terms of their lyrics? I just whipped up mine just now because I was curious how it would turn out (this is pretty rough):

1. OK Computer
2. Hunky Dory
3. Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
4. Violent Femmes
5. John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band
6. Pet Sounds
7. Kid A
8. Born to Run
9. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
10. Funeral

Mine are more focused on the substance of the lyrics, rather than their style (Dylan being an artist notably not on the list). Born to Run is obvious exception to that rule on this list.

Paranoid - Black Sabbath

"Make a joke and I will sigh and you will laugh and I will cry. Happiness I cannot feel and love to me is so unreal."

"Day of judgment God is calling. On their knees the war pigs crawling. Begging mercy for their sins. Satan, laughing, spreads his wings."

"So I went to the doctor. See what he could give me. He said, 'Son, son, you've gone too far. Cause smokin' antrippin' is all that you do.'"

And ALL the lyrics on the song Electric Funeral. Terrifying description of an atomic bomb.

Lyrics are probably the most important part of a song for me so forgive me for picking my favourite two albums, The Smiths' self titled and The Streets' Original Pirate Material, these two albums mean the fucking world to me.

I saw Original Pirate Material on vinyl in Urban Outfitters today and it was sort of cool but sort of disgusting also.

Suck It And See was surprisingly innovative and deep lyrically.

Sufjan Stevens' religious themes are quite enjoyable, despite my being an atheist. mewithoutyou's It's All False! also has a very interesting parables and fables concept.

Also, "I don't know but I've been told, you never die and you never grow old" off TMaA is pretty fucking amazing.

The Moon & Antarctica
Aenima
OK Computer
Dark Side of the Moon, Animals (though I have my reservations in regards to the whole concept... seems a bit.. plastic? Calculated? And in the way that it doesn't contribute to the overall greatness of the album like in The Wall's case.

As if that made sense...)
