Since 1997 is turning 20 this year, I decided to create a poll to find out everybody's favorite album from the year in question. I should mention that - so far - this is my favorite year in music, so I'm partial.
I feel like "OK Computer" is going to kill this poll. Though I'm hopeful some of the other options have some gravitas and pull through with some votes.
Now I know I only put a few options here, so if your choice isn't on here I've delegated an "Other" option.
I'm looking really looking forward to how this all unfolds. ๐
(As for me. I'm going with Modest Mouse.) _________________ Some RYM paraphernalia:
I love '97 for music. It's crazy that it's been 20 years. Imo, The Colour and the Shape was the best album from that year, and the best ever post-grunge album. Some of my other faves from that year are Nine Lives, Whatever and Ever Amen, SCIENCE, OK Computer, Freak Show, Nimrod, and of course Third Eye Blind's self-titled debut. _________________ on such a winter's day

First of all, I love your name (of course, OK Computer is on your list ๐คฃ ).
Second, totally agree with you about The Color & The Shape.
Third & Finally, I know what you mean about the year. If I were to compile my favorite records of the 90s, 1997 would hold the most spots. I mean, just look at my top 10 for the year (below):
#1: Modest Mouse - Lonesome Crowded West
#2: Radiohead - OK Computer
#3: Built To Spill - Perfect From Now
#4: Bjork - Homogenic
#5: Sleater-Kinney - Dig Me Out

autechre - chiastic slide, one of the very best entries in an amazing discography
Like Dig Me Out, Chiastic Slide was heavily considered for the poll but I felt it would've a little obscure to make the list and not just the other option.
As a record, it's just phenomenal. _________________ Some RYM paraphernalia:

'97 sits in my musical dark ages, the decade which runs roughly from the mid '90s to the mid '00s. '97 is a year in which I really struggle to find things to love--even in my top 40 for the year, there's not much that would find a place on any list outside that period.
My top 10 for the year goes like this:
Robben Ford -- Tiger Walk (jazz-rock)
Loreena McKennitt -- The Book of Secrets (new age-celtic)
Connie Dover -- If Ever I Return (celtic-american folk)
Fates Warning -- Pleasant Shade of Gray (progressive metal)
Dream Theater -- Falling into Infinity (progressive metal)
Mike Stern -- Give and Take (fusion)
Blackmore's Night -- Shadow of the Moon (renaissance rock)
Helmet -- Aftertaste (alternative metal)
David Arkenstone -- Spirit Wind (native american new age)
Godsmack -- Godsmack (alternative metal)
