I absolutely considered 73 and 67, but decided they didn't have quite the high enough number of great albums that I PERSONALLY love, even tho a lot of other people do.
But 1971 beats em all.

Bruh I have to agree with 2002. Honestly the only years that I could think of for some jaw dropping albums with my personal ears would be 2015 and maybe 1995. Plus I do need to expand my listening endeavors to get this list going. Also this is a cool Forum.

In no particular order...
1967 - This was when classic albums started to really hoard in. There was Sgt. Pepper's, there was The Velvet Underground and Nico, there was Are You Experienced, there was The Doors' first two albums, there was Surrealistic Pillow, there was just such a huge number of records that really pushed the boundaries of music and stand on their own, even half a century later. There's a good reason this year has the highest score of any year in history on this site.
1971 - Oh boy, the sheer quality of some of this year's landmark LP's just pushes it into a league of its own. Who's Next? Masterpiece. Led Zeppelin IV? Masterpiece. What's Going On? Masterpiece. Add to that albums like Blue, Sticky Fingers, Pearl, Songs of Love and Hate, Tapestry, and even some more obscure classics like Nursery Crime and Santana III, and you get a year that really epitomizes the age of AOR.
1973 - A year full of fantastic albums basically across the board. Of course, you have common top picks such as Dark Side of the Moon and Houses of the Holy, but there were some other pretty great albums like Billy Joel's Piano Man, Aerosmith's debut, and Bruce Springsteen's first two albums. Ironically, this is easily one of the worst years for pop hits in the UK; it was much better in the United States, which forwent the over saturation of uninspired glam rock kitsch for more soulful, complex, rootsy, and sophisticated hit singles.
1978 - Not exactly my favorite time for popular music, but definitely a personal favorite when it comes to full albums. Strong turnouts from Blondie, The Cars, Bruce Springsteen, Toto, Kate Bush, Talking Heads, Heart, and many other non-disco acts make this one of the most glorious times for LP's ever.
1983 - Few people would regard this as a year packed with classics, but as far as my personal tastes go, 1983 was an absolutely triumphant time for music. All of the futuristic, cutting edge, synth-produced influences that are a personal favorite of mine were heavily established here, but unlike the harder, more over-the-top sound that dominated the second half of the 1980s, 1983 albums balanced all of the cutting edge qualities of music at the time with grand, nuanced, and harmonious productions. There was a perfect mixture of artistic gems in the new wave genre like Synchronicity and Soul Food, beautifully sung and excellent composed post-disco like Branigan 2 and the Flashdance Soundtrack, hard rockers like Metallica's debut and Def Leppard's Pyromania, arena-scaled marvels like Survivor's Caught in the Game and Bonnie Tyler's Faster Than the Speed of Night, and even some more miscellaneous treats like "Weird Al" Yankovic's debut and Billy Joel's An Innocent Man.
