Post subject: Albums about loneliness? Please help!
I was looking at charts and I stumbled upon Gowi's (never gets old) and I saw 'The Mantle'. I've never had love at all for black metal and I could right a poetic speach on why, but this is the only album that has ever intrigued me. Still I'm not sure though, just something about it... Anywho it got me thinking about some themes Gowi did and didn't bring up about the album. Loneliness, misery, ECT. I've been looking for albums to identify with. I'm looking for albums of almost any genre with themes of loneliness. Maybe a pick from God will fall from the heavens and be a Mix of loneliness and optimism or something. Still, beggars can't be choosers I guess.

Wow....
Thanks! A lot of my favorites are on here it seems, That's not a bad thing. They only seem to scratch the surface. Wish I could repay the favor
O'Keefe. Danny O'Keefe
I Can't Stand the Rain. Ann Peebles
Hejira. Joni Mitchell
Kozmic Blues. Janis Joplin
Mud Slide Slim and The Blue Horizon. James Taylor
Rhymes and Reasons. Carole King
Humans are such interesting animals. Why would we get solace from hearing a complete stranger sing songs? It works though, and we all do it.
Maybe some Mount Eerie would fit? Although the last album (A Crow Looked At Me) isn't so much loneliness as it is heart-wrenching sadness. Hopefully I don't ever have the urge to listen to that one ever again.

Supremely disappointed in this list. You skipped right over hundreds of years of music. C'mon AH! (The ones you bolded are great though.)
Barber's Adagio for Strings is filled with loneliness and optimism. One of my favorite songs.
