I say this as someone who hasn't ever dug deep into their discography, but I never liked anything from them on classic rock radio. I know that's not the best way to form an opinion on an artist, but when I was younger classic rock radio was a gateway to a lot of great music for me.

I'm sure there are songs that I would like from BTO, so please link me to some of your favorite, but Bachman's voice never clicked with me. Also, Takin' Care of Business is torture.

I like you ain't seen nothing yet but I never took the trouble of listening to a full album: is the rest of their legacy as good as their major hit?

Nope. The hits are all there is really. If u didnt like those, u wouldnt like the albums. Besides a couple tracks that come close to the awesomeness of the hits. BTO is just one of those 70s bands that was silly as all hell, but they're oh-so- satisfying.
Unlike most people, I've never been able to resist stupid music. As long as it's good, that is. I like stupid music that rocks. Lol

Well I suppose more hits were played on the american Classic radio stations, in Belgium there was only the one hit.
I'm listening to Not Fragile as I write this though and can't say I dislike it and especially the guitar playing is interesting but the voice and the songs on most of the tracks are not that great overall.

They had lots of hits in the States and Canada, enough to fill a really great greatest hits album. Yeah, I especially love the guitars too. it's all great hooks and riffs, the kind that you never get tired of. And personally I love the stupid singing of Randy Bachman, but their other lead singer was actually just a good rock singer with a pretty good voice. Let it Ride on Not Fragile is pretty good and he sings on that one. Its the best kind of 70s radio Rock, which was pretty awesome.

Bachman was always better in the Guess Who with Burton Cummings there to do the singing. Their songs were better, too. BTO was always kind of...clunky. The Guess Who had soul. Apparently, that wasn't Bachman's contribution.

I love The Guess Who too. They had some great songs, especially Laughing and She's Come Undone. Those are awesome. And No Time. But BTO werent clunky, they were CRUNCHY. There's a difference. Lol. BTO had big huge dumb crunchy guitar chords.. That's why they were awesome. Ha ha ha!!!!

Many many many years ago, i grew up in a frigid, remote hell-hole called sault ste. marie, ontario, canada.
Winter is so long that everyone plays hockey all year round and drive with winter tires all year long.

At the time, I was a young teenager, and I was being programmed to believe that BTO were the most talented musicians in the world. Par none.
And what made it even more extraordinary, for me and everyone around me, was the fact that they were Canadian.
Now, Canada not only had the best hockey players in the world but also the best musicians in the world. Miracle of miracles.

How many times in a day, did the local radio DJ's spin BTO records? It would be greater than the fingers and toes I have.

Your description of BTO is perfect and accurate and i agree with you!
I listen to them once a year. They are a lot of fun with some cool guitar work. nothing sensational.
their lyrics are pretty cool as well. "Lunch pail lyrics" that everyone can identify with.
I listen to "not fragile" or greatest hits.

Not to take away from your thread; but i have to mention that at the time i was listening to BTO I also was listening to Nazareth. Remember those dinosaurs?
Not to offend other members but I classify "Nazareth" in the same spirited, fun category.
"Now your messing with a son-of-bitch". Gimme a break.
It should be played at every UFC match!!!!

Anyways, I'm going to wash my car with BTO in the background.
Its good to see that Im not the only one who enjoys BTO.
