- Post subject: your ratings don't ncssrly suck all or even most of the time

yada yada you knw whre this is gng. there are albums on this site that are PHERNOMENAL with piss-poor ratings.
like.. you guys got them waxes in your ears? the hell.
i'm going through my lists, aaand i know i'm not the only one who feels some need to defend some of these albums MASTERPIECES with absurdly low ratings.
---
Platform by Holly Herndon :: 69!?!?
this is one of my all-time favorites. it's had a huge impacting on my listening and writing. Holly does all this unconventional **** that blows my mind in all the most glorious wigs. even the ASMR stuff, which i was all "what the crap!!??" wth at first has grown on me (re: fitter happier syndrome). srsly. this album rocks.
D.A.I.S.Y. Rage by Kitty :: 67
ok yeah this is a different tale than HH's album. this album is pretty.... tacky in a lot of loveable ways. but i love it, and you freaks think it's trash. whatever.
Happy Birthday by Altered Images :: 66
i dddiscover'd this album prtty recently, so i'm not going to claim to have any deep insights into it, but when you go and rate a fellow post-punk album like Unknown Pleasures an 87 or Joshua Tree an 83 or From the Lion's Mouth a 79 or Seventeen Seconds a 78.... and then you dump on Altered Images' beautiful debut, i'm all baffled inside and out.
Prince Charming by Adam And The Ants :: 67
i'll be honest. i don't remember much about this album. i listened to it twice earlier this year and vaguely remember enjoying it. i didn't give it no rating, so hypocrisy obviously abounds here, but why yo'll rate'n it s'low? i mean, my man.
Pablo Honey by Radiohead :: 69
and yeah... this isn't a bad album. if thm died in that MTV pool party and radiohead was no more - i'm talking pre-thebends/okcomputer/kida/amnesiac/hailtothethiif/inrainbows/moonpools/et al, i'd be salted pepper if this album wouldn't have at least a 76 in these parts.
---
gripe on, folks. and rec me some crud-crusted masterpieces.
*ETA: this is just another "under-rated" thread, isn't it? no no no. it's more than that. it's not asking what the world underrates. it's us collectively. and it's a recothread. and ... yeah, it's an underrated thread, huh? my life, man. this is my life now. i'm sorry, folks. i let my better judgment down. leaving it here as an object lesson for the newbies. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.

oh yeah I usually ignore those ratings since they have no impact, and a lot of times when I look it's something with not very many ratings, and there's one person who has it at 5-15 and you mouseover their rating breakdown thing and you see they have most of their ratings there, so then you can be like "oh good, they probably deserve to feel that way that often". but yeah grumps have too much influence so I say just ignore them entirely.

This is one that definitely deserves better than a 66. It may not be Aqualung or Thick as a Brick, but it has excellent variety, all strong cuts, superb songwriting, and a moody delivery with just enough edge to completely overcome 80s style production. The Tull hit all the right notes with this one.

Probably all the U2 albums.
I think even Joshua Tree is rated at 72 or something pretty low.
Haters gonna hate.

Also Pablo Honey is kinda terrible... hahaha. Sorry. There's probably only 4 songs I like on it.
