Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.5/100, a mean average of 72.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.8.

They start off so good with 'Delta MK II', but they then quickly fall back to the most common mistakes for semi-ambient artists, which is making a undynamic and irritatingly catchy-yet-not-catchy-enough whole.
Edit: Okay, it is very ironic that the comment right under mine talks about how dynamic it is, so my statement claiming the exact opposite is not so obvious apparently. I'd say listen to Orbital's Snivilization, The Chemical Brothers' Dig Your Own Hole and Aphex Twin's Richard D. James Album (okay the last two are clearly a different genre, but still), and then decide whether this is dynamic. Sure, it is not as bad as Pomme Fritz, but I wouldn't call this dynamic.
What I'm most impressed with on this is that many electronic albums have a repetitive base upon which they build... I never felt that way with this - the dynamics and unique beats/samples, etc. were seemingly so effortlessly mixed together, yet were masterful.
The Orb is back on form with this service sector symphony.
So massively underrated. My favorite Orb album. Funky, psychedelic, trippy, ambient, catchy, humorous, intriguing... this deserves reconsideration.
