Was any album by your favorite artist ever so bad that it made you want to pull your hair out and/or made you want to jump out the window?
I had that experience today. I listened to No Sounds Are Out of Bounds by The Orb for the first time today, and it is so bad that I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I couldn't believe my ears. I thought for sure I must have been having some kind of psychotic episode or something.
Apple Music suggested I listen to a new album by Kevin Bennett because I’d listened to something by Kevin Bennett before and liked it. I hated it. Turns out, it was a completely different artist who shares the same name, but as far as Apple Music is concerned, they’re one and the same. So, yeah.
Bad/disappointing albums from artists I otherwise loved up to that time (in chronological order):

U2 since about 2002/2006. They usually grow on me because I'm a sucker, but every time a new album of theirs comes out I shudder.
Agreed. Since then, they seems to have lost their focus. The albums' production for that period reflect that : loud/modern/undifferentiated. Strange because the producers were the same.

Did they "lose focus" or just fail to evolve. Many long lasting bands just don't do anything new and, in doing so, seem to lose their creative streak, thus becoming a less impressive version of what they already were. Happened to most of the British Invasion (Stones, Who, Kinks, and I believe would have happened even to the Beatles had they stayed together). Over time AC/DC lost listeners (at least to their new material) because it was just more of the same, but without the original spark. For most, they simply run out of ideas, or at least new ideas within the constraints of their signature sound/vibe.
This is what makes the likes of Miles Davis and Rush so amazing; that they could continue to evolve without merely being different just for different's sake, always moving forward and expressing new relevance.
