Oh hell yeah I love this album. It’s got s great sense of humor and is some high quality roots rock. Most underrated kinks album.

I have somewhat the opposite reaction.

I'm a huge kinks fan, and think the sequence of Village Green/Arthur/Lola may be the best three album run ever.

But this one just doesn't do it for me. Yes, Davies' wit is on full display, but it just doesn't translate well for me. I guess my ear just can't adapt to the fusion of Kinks/Country. They are at their best when they are at their most English.

Part of the problem I have with this album is that there's too much "English" overshadowing what could have been a cool country rock album. (No one in the American South would ever sing a song called "Have A Cuppa Tea"...)
