I'd never think in my entire life I'd be voting for anyone in the realm of country besides perhaps some outlaw country like Johnny Cash or really old country like Hank Williams or Sons of the Pioneers or maybe a single or three from Patsy Cline... long story short, when music is good, it's good - but good and country haven't been synonymous most of my life (and not for a lack of trying)... I suppose I should say when a country musician rises to the top, it's usually really good. I wouldn't put this album up there with some of those I've mentioned, but I do respect and even like some of it.
MGMT has always been filler to me, even their best stuff felt like, yup they are going to have a hit and then die a death akin to Third Eye Blind or similar. I guess I'm being proved wrong here, even if I feel like it's about as good as TEB's second album nobody even knows the name of.

This is a seriously underwhelming finals. None of those two would be in my top 50 of the year, even though I enjoyed both. Gotta vote for MGMT though, we canโt be voting the same AOTY as Grammys ๐คฃ _________________ Overall chart

Happy to see Kacey taking this-Golden Hour is my favourite album from 2018 so I can't complain. I'd say it's so good that even the Grammy's couldn't get this one wrong.

Very disappointed to see Nat fall.
... especially because that now puts me in the position of voting for a country album .... in the finals no less!!!
Right now, Satan is passing out free ice water in hell.... actually he'd be doing the same thing if I had had the opportunity to vote for... gulp... a reggae album in the finals!!! As it was, given my votes up to that point, heavy snow was in the forecast for the underworld.
(to be clear, none of this is an indictment of MGMT, as I liked that album quite a bit as well).
