two hands is another one i didnt listen to beyond the single yet (not) - UFOF was pretty but not one i found myself going back to (outside of cattails and the title track) so would be surprised if i felt much differently about this one
shura is a smart, chic album i can listen to in almost any mood - everything about the album works: sleek production, genuine songwriting, compelling melodies. I'm happy people have seemed to agree so far! _________________ My top songs of the 2010s

Whyโs it look like Bono is on that Big Thief cover?
100%, and I didn't even notice until you mentioned it ๐
I prefer UFOF, it's got better songs and it's a well-rounded album imo. That being said Two Hands is a nice, warm indie folk record. Adrianne Lenker has a really fantastic voice, though it took me some time to get used to it. It's somewhere around 100-120 of the year for me. Not is a fantastic Neil Young & The Crazy Horse inspired jam.
Shura similarly has a voice that didn't seem that good at first, but in the middle of my third listen now and I love it. Same goes for the album, I like it more and more.
Unlike a lot it seems, I found Two Hands rather dissapointing after loving UFOF, not working as cohesively as the latter and yet the supposedly raw edges of Two Hands feeling rather tame, though there were a few excellent tracks and "Not" was def a Song of the Year contender. Shura, again, was pleasent and well-produced r&b-electro fusion that was rather luckluster in the actual performance, and while nothing was a "miss" so to say nothing really made a noticeable hit either, so ever so slightly leaning Big Thief just for having better highs overall.

I really enjoy everything I've heard by Big Thief (and Lenker's solo work), but none of the albums have clicked with me as personal favorites yet. But I do definitely prefer Two Hands to Forevher. _________________ Join us in the canon game :) / Add me on RYM
Big Thief is a bit like Weyes Blood: not in my 2019 top chart but nevertheless I fairly like it and there is one fantastic track: Not.
I didn't really like Forevher so again an easy choice.
