Occasionally I discover genres I have little to no knowledge of (in this case I know a handful of film soundtracks, like Drive and Maniac [remake], as well as Stranger Things) and fall in love instantly. This is one of those occasions. I'm at the very early learning stages here but Pertubator, Carpenter Brut and FM-84 are a few acts I've enjoyed enough to take note of so far. So are there any fans in the forums or is this post gonna get shit on like the one where I thought I was cool for finding out about Immortal Technique?

There was a little fun had at my expense. It's been a couple years so I can't recall who said what but I thought he was alright from what little bit I heard and he seemed unheard of based on his ratings on BEA so I thought I'd make a thread about him. I guess the production isn't jazzy enough for folks around here.

Not quite the same (I did listen to Disintegration last night coincidentally). While those bands all likely had an influence of synthwave, the genre wasn't born until the 21st century from my understanding. It's basically new music that sounds like 80s movie and video game soundtracks. Check out the artists I mentioned above.

I love synthwave, it's a great style. I wanted to do a chart some time ago but I never found the time. Maybe I'll do it one day

My favourite acts you haven't mentionned would be Waveshaper, Dance With The Dead, Nightcrawler, Lazerhawk, Danger...

The Synthwave discography on BEA is very limited so far but here are some of my favourites:

Infinity by Wolfclub

Innerworld by Electric Youth

A great path into Synthwave is the NewRetroWave channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD-4g5...LaNS_ghU4g

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I'll be sure to check them out asap. After I've educated myself enough to confidently pick favorites I'll surely add a few albums to my chart. If I ever decide to revive my ancient decade and year charts I'll probably wind up adding dozens to the database.
