Damn, I really wish these tracks weren't up against each other - best hip-hop of the tournament so far... I suppose one would've had to cut the other eventually.
Also first listen to Noname's Telefone record and I'm like shit... I know BayState's been talking her up, and really wish I listened to sooner. Damn is this good. Thanks for the nom. Sad to see a likely loss here.
Oh and for clarity sake, I still voted Blacker the Berry... hot damn is that a great track. Again, two best hip-hop tracks of the tourney so far.

Oh well, a rough draw for round one. Diddy Bop is a joyous summer slice of nostalgic block party hip-hop, with a stellar hook from Cam O'bi and a buttery beat that makes you want to, well, hit the Diddy bop. Noname brings a deft touch to her flows and lyrics as usual, and Raury sounds better than ever before or since.
I gave Telefone a listen back in 2016 and haven't listened since, but I enjoyed Room 25 a lot so I'm going to give it another listen soon. This is a great song that exhibits all of Noname's best qualities, definitely would get my vote against most other songs in the tourney so far but I don't think I'm going to be voting against Kendrick.
Match-up is a lot closer than I expected though. _________________ And it's hard to be a human being. And it's harder as anything else.
Telefone is Noname's masterpiece but Diddy Bop has long lost its flare for me and much prefer Yesterday, Reality Check, Shadow man etc. Blacker the Berry by a hair.
