Not their best, but it didn't have to be... a really good punk/alternative rock record from the 80s. _________________ ✌⚜

I guess I'm in the minority then, for thinking this is their best LP (or at least my favorite of theirs). And my second-favorite of theirs is probably Tim, so I guess I should listen to them all again.

- Post subject: Their Most Influential
|
I just listened to this one again last night, and it's definitely their most influential album. While Let It Be and Tim were sloppy and bratty with sparkles of brilliance, everything comes together on Pleased to Meet Me: Mature performances, excellent heartfelt songwriting, cleaner power-pop chords and acceptable production. It's by far their most consistent set of songs and it showed the world that hardcore music could be sentimental and charming.
I also really appreciate the Memphis-soul horns. It's a nice touch that you rarely see on alternative rock albums and it gives this one distinction.
Condensed to a 7" Single:
A-Side: Can't Hardly Wait
B-Side: Skyway
