I normally don't like saying things like this, but

Really, this is an amazing album that doesn't get the respect it deserves from metal fans.

An incredible album that I have at #5 on my chart. A more detailed response later, I have to go to work now.

I once asked some people on another website about what was the weirdest song they had ever heard, and somebody answered Chop Suey! So I went to listen to it, and........well, that was it. That was my introduction to System of a Down.

Okay, here's my more detailed response:

This pacing on this album is the best I've ever heard. Grabbing the listener's attention with the false starts on Prison Song, this album absolutely never lets up. When it's not heavy and fast-paced, the tone is dark and suspenseful, and I feel the adrenaline pumping through every second. The album's best tune is Deer Dance (a fantastic song with an important message regarding police brutality), but Chop Suey, Forest, and Science are phenomenal tracks, as well. Ironically, I would say the title track is the album's low point (it's the one song on the album that I don't really feel fits; it's a good song by itself, but in the context of the album it kind of sticks out like a sore thumb). Tracks 1-11 are absolutely flawless as an album, and though the last three tracks don't necessarily fit as nicely within the album's context, they are strong enough on their own to work.

Atwa, Toxicity and Aerials are what I remember to be good from that album. Never been a fan of Chop Suey
