The 60's starts producing a plethora of great albums starting in 1966. 1965 is also quite strong with HWY 61 standing out, but from 1960-1965 we only have a few jazz masterpieces to seriously consider.

What albums from 1977 make it a noteworthy year? I'm sure I am missing a few, but London Calling is all that comes to mind.

I believe there are 3 years in music that are relevant amongst the others because of the relevant changes in the path that music would follow after them, and those years were 1967, 1977 and 1991.

I agree with all the years mentioned.
Elston you forgot to mention Talk Talk's Laughing Stock on 1991, it is on my top 5 of the whole decade I guess.
And a few 77' albums that comes to my mind:
Television - Marquee Moon
Miles Davis - Dark Magus
Brian Eno - Before and After Science
David Bowie - Low
David Bowie - Heroes
Wire - Pink Flag
Suicide - Suicide
Pink Floyd - Animals
Ramones - Rocket to Russia
Elvis Costello - My Aim Is True
Kraftwerk - Trans Europe Express
Iggy Pop - The Idiot
Throbbing Gristle - Second Annual Report
National Health - S/t
Univers Zero - S/t
London Calling is from 79

The whole 60s but most notably 1967. 1979 is also good.
