I really want to know who your favorite lyricists are. I personally enjoy lyrics in my music quite a bit, and bad lyrics sometimes turn my ears off when listening to music. Don't worry, though. I'm not doing a poll this time. (I failed pretty badly with the prog bands one.) Anyways, if your favorite lyricist is known for being in certain band, put the band's name in parentheses.
For example: Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel)
Or: Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse)
Or: Peter Gabriel (Genesis)
Or: Neil Peart (Rush)
If your favorite lyricist is associated with being solo just right their name, like:
Neil Young

"By-Tor and the Snow Dog
Square for battle, let the fray begin.

The battle's over and the dust is clearing
Disciples of the Snow Dog sound the knell

By-Tor in defeat retreats to Hell
Snow Dog is victorious"

How can lyrics like this NOT resonate deep within one's heart??

Listen to the two Cygnus X-1 pieces. The lyrics tell an amazingly epic tale. Not only that, he's written some fantastic stories through his songs. Like, "2112", "The Camera Eye", and "Xanadu".

Yeah I really don't get the praise for Neil Peart's lyrics, they just sound like a failed attempt to make something sound "epic", while actually making it feel emotionless and laughable. Don't get me started on his drumming
