Forget about the BBC album top 50.
Today is also the day of the Dutch Radio 2 Album top 50.
It is a weird list of albums and not really better than the BBC list.
http://content1a.omroep.nl/a38f041a0ac3...202013.pdf

01. RUMOURS – Fleetwood Mac
02. SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND – The Beatles
03. HOTEL CALIFORNIA – Eagles
04. DARK SIDE OF THE MOON – Pink Floyd
05. THE JOSHUA TREE – U2
06. DÉJÀ VU – Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young
07. TEN – Pearl Jam
08. BROTHERS IN ARMS – Dire Straits
09. WISH YOU WERE HERE – Pink Floyd
10. BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER – Simon & Garfunkel
11. GRACELAND – Paul Simon
12. BAT OUT OF HELL – Meat Loaf
13. THE WALL – Pink Floyd
14. THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE – U2
15. THRILLER – Michael Jackson
16. A NIGHT AT THE OPERA – Queen
17. ABBEY ROAD – The Beatles
18. 21 TWENTY ONE – Adele
19. ACHTUNG BABY – U2
20. AUTOMATIC FOR THE PEOPLE – R.E.M.
21. THE RIVER – Bruce Springsteen
22. PET SOUNDS – Beach Boys
23. ARRIVAL – ABBA
24. MISPLACED CHILDHOOD – Marillion
25. HARVEST – Neil Young
26. A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD – Coldplay
27. DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED – The Moody Blues
28. BORN IN THE USA – Bruce Springsteen
29. CRIME OF THE CENTURY – Supertramp
30. MOTHER EARTH – Within Temptation
31. STICKY FINGERS – Rolling Stones
32. BAND ON THE RUN – Paul McCartney and Wings
33. INNUENDO – Queen
34. APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION – Guns N' Roses
35. SUPERTROUPER – ABBA
36. NEVERMIND – Nirvana
37. BREAKFAST IN AMERICA – Supertramp
38. SONGS IN THE KEY OF LIFE – Stevie Wonder
39. STADIUM ARCADIUM – Red Hot Chili Peppers
40. THROWING COPPER – Live
41. OK COMPUTER – Radiohead
42. DELETED SCENES – Caro Emerald
43. LOVE OVER GOLD – Dire Straits
44. THE VISITORS – ABBA
45. TOMMY – The Who
46. THE SEVENTH ONE – Toto
47. AMERICAN IDIOT – Green Day
48. THE KICK INSIDE – Kate Bush
49. SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND – Genesis
50. BORN TO RUN – Bruce Springsteen

I think there has been some kind of action from ABBA fans.
Ok Computer is much too low.
The number 1 doesn't deserve to be on the top.
Two Dutch albums: Mother Earth - Within Temptation and Deleted Scenes From The Cuttingroom Floor, Caro Emerald. Never thought Within Temptation would be in the top 50 of Radio 2.

And much more strange choices.

What do you think about this list?

I prefer this to the BBC list, I don't really mind ABBA to be honest.

I prefer this to the BBC list but there's too much Pink Floyd at the top and too little Beatles

But this list is established in a whole different way. People could vote fore a Vote-list first. A month later people could vote for albums that made the Vote-list. Albums Like In The Aeroplane Over The See and Songs For The Deaf didn't even reach the Vote-list.

That's another problem with these lists. They're too safe. Obscure albums like ITAOTS will not ever make the shortlist because they're never played on radio. Other albums like Kid A don't have singles so they won't get played.

I like how people are complaining because overrated bands and albums didn't make the list.

Nothing particularly inspiring about this list. Including Marillion and Within Temptation was a nice touch though.

It's better than that other list, only because the other one was tragically awful. This one still isn't that great. The Eagles at number 3? And what are these lists' obsession with Adele and ABBA?
