The album art is for the Australian release, but the track listing is American. Should we include both versions of AC/DC albums since the Australian and American versions usually have completely different track listings?
Hmm. There is a similar issue with several other albums. Most memorable examples for me are the differences between the US and UK versions of The clash and Are You Experienced. I think it should just be noted on the one entry what the basic differences are between the 2 versions. Somehow it must be worked out so the same song doesn't appear twice to be voted on twice. But that is simple to handle. Just have it noted on ONE entry. _________________ -Ryan
Can I change that back? I was actually hoping to change the cover art and add the Australian version later. Besides, it's the American version everyone's been rating the tracks on ever since the album first came here.
I'll just add the Australian version on the site in a seperate page since the American one's the one everyone's been rating here.
I believe albummaster's ex cathedra statement was that BEA only shows the "original" cover and tracks. Not sure why, seems to lead to many false assumptions but is simple (as opposed to simply wrong).
Still, even if you change the track titles, the ratings stay the same. If this is the case, then the ratings for many of the songs will be all wrong. We can't change it to that because people may come in to the album's page and find tracks that they didn't even rate that way. Example? Someone rates Big Balls 30, but loves the track There's Gonna Be Some Rockin' and gave it 90. Now it's changed. When they come in, they'll see that somehow they gave There's Gonna Be Some Rockin' a 30 and they'll be like "WHAAAT!?" Besides, we have both versions of High Voltage here. It would be smarter just to add the other version because that was added first and technically it's a little too late to change the track listing unless you want some problems. Besides, technically, they're two different albums. We're only not allowed to include albums with BONUS tracks.
As discussed many times before, BEA only shows the original release of each album to make the site easy to administer. This means the original track listing, year of release and artwork are to be displayed.
With regards to editing track listings, if an existing track has a rating or comment, it shouldn't be renamed to something entirely different (i.e. not just correcting a spelling) because then the comments/ratings will not be relevant to the renamed track. If the sequence of tracks is incorrect, then just update the track number(s) but leave the title alone.
e.g.
if the tracks were listed as follows:
1. Track 2
2. Track 1
3. Track 3
4. Track 4
Then update the track numbers to this (i.e. not changing the names):
2. Track 2
1. Track 1
3. Track 3
4. Track 4
when the album is saved, the sequence will then be displayed as follows:
1. Track 1
2. Track 2
3. Track 3
4. Track 4
Yes, but the American version has two tracks on it that replaced two different tracks on the Australian version, so even if we did change the order, the ratings and comments would still be irrelevant.
