Big Science by Laurie Anderson

Another great day for classic album anniversaries. I couldn't resist including a poll despite it being sorta silly comparing such disparate albums. I'm a sucker for stats and anniversaries.

Oh! And as pointed out to me by Ochurch, today is also the 42nd anniversary of the Doors 1971 album "L.A. Woman"! Woohoo!!!!! Thanks buddy!

L.a. Woman by The Doors

Overall Rank: 166
1970s Rank: 43
1971 Rank: 7

Okay, and if any of you have any opinions about these albums let is know. Or if their anniversaries do anything for you like remind you of when they first came out, or make you go and revisit them, let us know. That's why I do this. And also let us know do you hate these albums? Love them? And why?

Sincerely,
Ryan

Big Science is an incredible album! So that.

Then Odyssey.

Think I am the only BAWP that doesn't like Nas.

I choose Illmatic. Illmatic is so great! I think Odessey and Oracle is incknsistent and shallow generally. It has great big melodies and harmonies and it's great and busy and showy, etc. but it just feels like fireworks. I have no emotional response to it. I feel the other big pop production of that era are much more accomplished in terms of subject matter than this. Namely, "Pet Sounds" "Revolver" and even "Sgt Peppers". It's a 75 for me. Illmatic is a solid 92
