Yeah, another stupid poll, sorry. It's just that I finally listened to the last Strokes record a few times, and of course I'm disappointed. I think the best of The Strokes can be found is their first two releases, when they sounded quite raw and unpolished. First Impressions was OK, but it was not at all at the level of the last two. And then Angles...

Now this year's album is not that bad, it's just kinda uninteresting. I mean there are catchy things here and there, 50/50 is pretty cool, but that's all.

What do you think? Do The Strokes have taken the right direction with their latest releases? Would they have repeated themselves if they had kept their early sound? More or less everyone holds Is This It as their best, but is there such a consensus about their second best?

Only Strokes album I love is Is This It, do really enjoy Room On Fire though, not excited about Angles bar a few songs. Have listened to Comedown Machine a couple of times but can already barely remember it.

Definitely a downward trend going on here.

Is This It - I'm kind of sick of it at this stage, still a great album #3

Room On Fire - An improvement on their debut, this is the quintessential Strokes album, absolute perfection.I actually prefer the crisper and cleaner production on this one.The melodies drill into your head and you can't shake them. #1

First Impressions Of Earth - I put this ahead of Is This It for the simple fact that the first 6 songs on this album are perfect, taken by themselves they would be easily considered the best collection of songs by the band,it's just a pity the second half isn't as great. #2

Angles - Haven't heard it in a while,which tells it's own story.Easily their worst,not terrible,actually quite good,just not great or even very good. #5

Comedown Machine - Initially I loved it,been up and down since, hopefully after some more listens it will unveil it's glory to me. #4

Jules,Nikolai and Albert's albums are all very good too,I'd recommend them to anyone who ain't heard them.

First Impressions..., although I must admit I probably should give Room On Fire a re-listen to decide properly. Was bored by Angles and didn't bother to listen to the last one, bar one single that was OK so I might give it a virtual spin sometime soon.

Reptilia is the best song they ever had. I think they just perfected everything I love about them on that song.

Exactly this. First half of First Impressions is by far my favorite stretch of any one of their albums including Is This It.

Aside from Vision Of Division and Killing Lies I'd say everything on FIOE is pretty amazinf, and even those two are okay. But Room On Fire is the best post Is This It one. I still like every Strokes album in some way though, I have never gotten the hate that some people have for them. For me it goes Is This It > Room On Fir >First Impressions > Comedown Machine > Angles.

I haven't heard Comedown Machine, but so far Room on Fire is easily the best.

My favorite Strokes release is the Modern Age EP actually (outside of their best singles). I don't like any of their studio albums that much.
