Automatic for the People will probably always be a top 10 album for me, but I'm afraid the appeal of any of their other albums will just be eternally lost on me.

Every song is a perfect pop track, but the whole album has a murky dank taste to it that hasn't been repeated since. The birth of mainstream alternative rock.

Band got better as they went along. Album still has 'Radio Free Europe' and 'Talk About The Passion'. Can't go wrong with 'Perfect Circle' either.

super influential in the development of alternative rock - in especial, bringing the genre into the mainstream.

that being said, it's also a personal favorite of mine. need to relisten soon!

Superb debut album, my favourite from a rich discography.

For anyone that likes 'Radio Free Europe', the definitive original version was recorded with label Hib-Tone

Decent album, but generally underwhelming. I really don't see how it even holds a finger to Automatic.

One of my favourite R.E.M. albums. I couldn't say for sure which I like the most, but this one definitely wouldn't be far from the top of that list. An excellent debut.
