I feel you should generate a forum for newer users as the main forum is dominated by your regulars. I have been a member of BEA for a few years now and still feel that the Music forum is an area that I do not feel like contributing to. Experts in this forum will always let you know that something has been done before or just ignore your posts. No doubt this will upset some of your users but this is the way I feel and if you look at the majority of your members forum posts I think this would entice low forum posters to start interacting. Possibly a forum for for members with lower than 100 or 50 posts.

I definitely understand your reasoning. In some ways it makes a lot of sense, but on the other hand it doesn't promote social interaction between the older and newer users. And I think that's something that's important. By creating an alternate forum, we'd basically force newer users to stay on the outside for longer. It's sort of like if schools put all of the new kids in separate classes. There's benefits, but it it also hinders the social adjustment.

...probably bad idea because of spamming. Or maybe if people didn't talk about it much newer members wouldn't know about it, and would come as a surprise once a member reaches the 1,000 mark. Mods would be in charge of making sure it's never mentioned outside of that section.

I've seen something similar to this where longer term members are able to post on a "journal" section. Anyone can reply but only allowed members can actually start threads. It would act more as a log for members to put down concrete thoughts on what their listening to, what they want to listen to, or whatever comes to their mind. So each member would have their own personal thread to put their thoughts in.
I'd rather people made mistakes and learnt from them than segregated new users.
If you don't feel like contributing, don't contribute.
The forums are friendly for the most part, and it will always take a while for a new user to fit in with the regulars, but I'm sure no one here really minds if some of the forum etiquette is broken, especially by new users, no one will attack you so soon.
New users: post what's on your mind, whatever it is, we'll find it interesting.
