So I had always assumed everyone knew about photic sneezing, until one day when my roommate caught me staring at the sun and trying to sneeze and didn't believe me when I told him that staring into bright lights makes me sneeze. For those of you who aren't familiar with the concept, it basically goes like this:

Many people, known as photic sneezers, have their sneeze reflex triggered by bright lights. The condition affects an estimated 18-35% of the population. Little is known about the cause of the condition, but it is believed to be an autosomal dominant trait.

Also, in answering the poll, I have one more question I'd like you to answer: How much do you enjoy sneezing? Sneezing feels like a mini-orgasm of the face to me, and most photic sneezers I've met feel the same way, whereas those who are not photic sneezers seem to enjoy it less. Thoughts?

Ahhh I luuuuve sneezing, bright lights don't make me sneeze just by staring at them, although if I am about to sneeze it speeds up the process.

Sneezing's the best, up there with taking a dump. Lights have nothing to do with it though.

Every time I go in the sun I sneeze. I thought it was some sort of weird genetical thing we have in our family, because I don't really know other people like that. I wouldn't say I "enjoy" sneezing, nor do I purposefully stare at the sun in order, but I guess I am a photic sneezer.

Well, you learn something everyday Smile

Not at all, and I don't really care for sneezing too much. Oh well, I'll never enjoy the true beauty of a sun sneeze I guess.

What you're describing sounds like social phobia Wink

Oh, and I HATE sneezing. I'm allergic to pollen, so I spend 6 months of the year sneezing (well it gets better with medication).

I thought bright lights made everyone sneeze? Well, often when I go from a darkly lit room straight to outside with the bright sun I'll sneeze. I'm definitely a photic sneezer. My friends joke that I'm "allergic to the sun" or "allergic to being outside", which is absolute nonsense (especially since sun allergy is a thing which can cause one to break out in hives; not the same as sunburn).

As far as enjoying sneezing goes: wtf? You people enjoy sneezing? A mini-orgasm of the face??

How dare you. Sneezing doesn't come close to the pure unabashed joy of taking a dump.

Though my enjoyment of sneezing may have been marred by recent bouts of sneezing during spring.

And yeah pretty certain I'm a photic sneezer but I won't vote til I test it out tomorrow.

As someone with pollen allergies, sneezing is awful, because in the spring and summer, I keep sneezing and sneezing until my throat is sore and my eyes are watering.

It sucks.

That being said, having a good sneeze after it's been building up for a long time, that's great.
