I prefer Sonic Youth, and have had 6 or 7 different albums or theirs at some point or another on my overall chart.
However, other than a strong no wave influence on their first 3 albums, post-punk and no wave became secondary in the following albums, the group pioneering the perfect mix of noise and alt rock.

So I voted for Talking Heads, the epitome of New York new wave.
