Simple. List your favorite songs by the king of rock and roll.
A Little Less Conversation - I'll admit the three minute modernized version is better, but the original is still a fave.
Burning Love - I can feel my temperature rising to this song. This would be the first Elvis song I'd cover if i were in a band.
Ready Teddy - A 50's legend with great guitar!

Of the less known tracks, my favorite is "Trying to Get to You," from the Sun sessions. At the end of the day, though, Elvis was a pop musician, so his singles were usually the best stuff. My rock and roll playlist includes Heartbreak Hotel, Don't Be Cruel, Jailhouse Rock, and All Shook Up.

I like my Elvis as fat and melodramatic as possible.
In The Ghetto and An American Trilogy are as fat and melodramatic as Elvis could get. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

In all seriousness, these might be my two favourite Elvis songs.

Wasn't Blue Suede Shoes originally done by Carl Perkins? Regardless, Elvis performed it I suppose. Remember my dad driving me to grade school with In The Ghetto and Suspicious Minds blaring; both would probably be my favorites though they are clearly two of his most popular.

I'm dead serious too. I'd also add Suspicious Minds and Kentucky Rain to the list. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

Yep, they even tried to get it out before the Perkins version, but Elvis would have none of it. My biggest problem with early Elvis is that he spent too much effort trying to be the best at everything rock and roll and not enough being himself. His cover of Tutti Frutti is one of the most ill-conceived ventures in early rock and roll.

Yup. For the most part, Elvis represents a lot of the worst aspects of popular music. He released a massive amount of mediocre music just to sell records. His heavy-handed misappropriation of gospel was often cringe-worthy. But occasionally his vocal talent and charisma was enough to overcome all that and result in something spectacular. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com
