We've done best lyricists, to other side of songwriting, who writes the best melodies?
First five that come to mind:
1. Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus (ABBA)
2. Bruno Mars
3. Paul McCartney
4. Billy Joel
5. Billy Joe Armstrong (Green Day)

Andersson & Ulvaeus are definitely up there for masters of melody and harmony; but so is Smokey Robinson, Brian Wilson, Brian Holland & Lamont Dozier, Andy Sturmer, and a bunch of others I'd have to think really hard about.

Here are five favorites of mine
1. David Gilmour, Roger Waters and Richard Wright of Pink Floyd
2. Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Colin Greenwood and Ed O'Brien of Radiohead
3. Johnny Marr and Andy Rourke of The Smiths
4. Everyone in Arcade Fire too many to mention by name
5. Aaron and Bryce Dessener and Scott Devendorf of The National
Not the all time best maybe but for sure are good names to mention in the list

This guy is high up there for me. His lyrics may be mostly shit, but damn if he can't write a catchy song. _________________ Progressive Rock

He has been improving in all regards though. Locked Out Of Heaven has to be one of the best things I've heard out of him.
