So, what do you folks think of bend folds and all? Top tier songwriter here and seems a little underappreciated. For those who don't know him or his music, definitely check out whatever and ever amen, ben folds five debut, Rockin the suburbs, and etc. Good stuff (and when I say Ben folds in the title of this thread, I refer to everything he has done with bands as well).

Recently I've just been listening to whatever and ever over and over again. It's such a good (and humorous) album.

His earlier stuff is better, debut through "messner", filled with more energy and attitude. His first solo album and a couple of his first EPs were good too, especially his take on "b|tches aint sh|t".

Ben Folds is fun, and quite an awesome pianist/showman, but nothing he's done has ever stuck with me for very long. But i'll have to call him the man for his work with William Shatner

Oh yeah -- his work with William Shatner and with Weird Al is pretty good too. And yes, he's quite a showman.

He's one of my favorite musicians in terms of who they actually are as a person. Incredibly nice guy with a great sense of humor. And obviously he's made some great music as well, Ben Folds Five is one of my favorite albums ever and the shows I've been to of his have been great fun.

not that i'm president of his fan club, but i have to agree with this too. whenever i see this guy on tv (from reality shows to artist-spotlight shows, etc.) he seems incredibly nice (and smart) and funny. I've only been able to attend one show (milwaukee summerfest performance about a decade back) but it was a lot of fun.

(for the record, i'm in no official fan club. i don't even endorse my own posts!)

Ben Folds is one of the most talented musicians around right now, I love the guy. Hasn't made a bad album yet, in my opinion (I even like the Reinhold Messner album). Dude's also an incredible performer, I saw him and the band live a year ago and they were great.

I love Ben Folds. "Rockin' In The Suburbs" is pretty high on my overall chart.

I might be in the minority, but I prefer his solo material to his stuff with Ben Folds Five.
