Since 1994, philosophers, literary critics, politicians and MCs alike have been pondering the question: who has the illest verse on Nas' 'Life's a Bitch'? Nas himself, or underdog A.Z. who's built his career from his verse on this timeless landmark in Hip-Hop history?

Both are curated from the finest flow and rhymes, as well as impeccable pentameters and introspective cultural and political lyricism, but one must come out as victor. Here on BEA, we will decide. Pick a side, and defend it for your life, there can be no flip-flopping here.

If you aren't fortunate enough to have experience this beyond-godly work of art, prepare to be enlightened, and decide where you stand.

AZ. I highly recommend AZ's album Doe or Die. An underrated and (I would argue) forgotten classic

AZ's verse is a lot better. My favorite song on Illmatic btw.

99% of the time when I see or hear people discuss underrated hip hop albums (this actually happens a lot) or artists AZ is always brought up. It's gotten to the stage where I don't even consider it underrated anymore, I mean every hip hop fan has heard it, it's always brought up in conversations about NY hip hop, and AZ himself has a myth surrounding him like no other rapper. At what point does it stop being underrated? It's easily one of the most revered hip hop albums, there are a lot better albums that don't get as much shine. Although this is just from my experience, I can see both sides.

I meant this more from the perspective of people who only know him as "Oh, that guy from Life's A bitch with the verse". I would label it as one of those genre classics that not many outside of hardcore fans of the genre know about.
