“Pollen” is contentment in musical form. The instrumentals are sparse feeling. A familiar combination of guitars and synths that lacks an ambitious groove or motif. However, this is somehow redeemed by the melody work. The thinner instrumentals are forged into auditory frames for the vocals. Alaina Moore is able to weave every syllable into focus, turning each word into the center of attention. The melodies are absolutely entrapping. Like contentment, boring in isolation but charming in context.
