Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.4/100, a mean average of 75.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.4.

Woeful effort at making music 1/10
Had high hopes $20 is a cool track, then it just fizzles out to not much.
“The Record” succeeds in its collaboration. There is a lot of chemistry between the vocalists. They expertly create harmonies and use their voices to fill in spaces. The writing is effective and makes great use of memory to add emotion. Despite all these pluses, the song structure can be meandering. Almost all the songs are mid-tempo. Back to back, it blunts momentum and adds a bit of listener’s fatigue. “The Record” needs more variety but remains competent at what it does.
Good album, I especially preferred Phoebe's part and Emily I'm Sorry
Remarkable how these three idiosyncratic songwriters consciously decide to subsume their quirks within a group voice. Individual traits haven't been erased so much as they've been sanded so they can fit neatly together. Boygenius feels heftier and hookier than Baker, Bridgers, and Dacus do on their own and I love it.

Incrível álbum!
73/100
I wanted to see how BoyGenius would handle an entire LP format, but in reality we can largely make do with the promo singles released some time before. I find that each individual works better as a solo artist, there's not much point in doing a supergroup except to make a happy fan base happy

Like how strong the record starts, how well the three artists compliment each other and the rockier numbers. Feel it starts to tail off somewhat towards the end, but is a solid effort overall and I’m glad they found the time to release an LP with this project.

It's good! I'm not over the moon about any of these artists individually, but I generally like all of them. Consequently, the tracks that each respective member leads usually corresponds with how much I like them on their own. So, I prefer the Julien Baker tracks, then Lucy Dacus, and am less wild overall about Phoebe Bridgers. But it's exactly what you'd expect: Three great tastes going great together. Fantastic songwriting, a breadth of familiar sounds and ideas that are nonetheless easy on the ears, even when the songs themselves are harder on the heart--which I mean in the best way possible.
