Correctly rated as one of the best albums to come out in 2023. One of those slow burn albums that takes a few listens to gel after which only gets better with time

“Desire, I Want to Turn Into You” is a full embracement of feelings. Polachek devotes herself completely with vivid mythological lyricism. Her emotional range is exquisite with impassioned delivery. In particular, the bridge on “Welcome to my Island” expertly moves from deadpan to desperate to ecstatic. In between this fantastic vocal performance, there are production errors. At times, Polachek’s voice is a bit over produced. It can come off as digital in emotional moments. Beyond the vocals, the production is hit or miss. At times, the echoic sound can reinforce the tone or add a vivid new age flavor. Alternatively, it creates a sparseness that makes it feel less dynamic. Even with its flaws, it’s a serene dive into human sentiment.
Beautiful experimental art pop that I was surprised by how eclectic it is. Really something for every ear and every mood and the voice is just superb.
Started out thinking this was just another album recorded in a bedroom and covering most of the tropes that are standard in pop at the moment. Then it starts to morph into something a bit more thought out and structured. Enjoyed this more than I thought I would by the end. Blood and Butter is a lovely song.

Caroline Polachek continues to carve a golden path to the top of Pop, with a logical sequel to "Pang", that is to say a collection of very good and eclectic songs on the same basis as the first album. "Desire, I Want to Turn Into You" is a little better, in its concept, in its choice, in its maturity. Quite simply
