Deutschgrunge, which is much better than anticipated.
Opener 'Loner' (allegedly) borrows from virtually every track on Nevermind - all at the sam time - but particularly 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and 'Lithium'. Track 3's guitar starts like M.Ward on She & Him's cover of 'I Put A Spell On You' but soon descends into swimming through your own vomit, on a grey day in Duisburg. Track 8 'Dopesick' leans into Beck's 'Novacane' and marches it along Karl-Marx Allee, smacked up to the eyeballs with Horse. About as original as nipple hair but with even more charm.
Es ist düster. Dort finden sie dich. Die Nadeln ragen an Stellen heraus, an denen sie eigentlich nicht hätten stecken sollen. Als würde man einen Granatenstift in einen schlampigen Graben hämmern.
Ich fühle mich zurück nach Seattle versetzt, in eine Zeit vor beschissenen Kaffeeketten, in ein Land, das nicht aus verdammt dummen Menschen besteht (oder zerfällt). Ich besitze keinen Laptop (oder hatte keinen), aber ich hatte einen passenden rot-schwarzen Holzfäller.
Is there anybody out there? Stay the fuck away from me.
